Preserve current core, source, REST, desktop, recovery, documentation and validation work, including AGENTS.md and the development summary. This is a work-in-progress checkpoint: the new compact palette has outstanding compilation errors and native acceptance; earlier passing gates retain their documented scope.

Basic diagram editing priority reset — 7 September 2026
The user reported that advanced semantic review is noisy and unclear, while basic diagram creation and layer transitions remain difficult. This changes the immediate priority: establish usable everyday authoring before extending advanced workflows. Existing release requirements remain open.
The user explicitly authorized resuming desktop checks after the earlier Escape stop. Root resumed only the isolated test application, with both APPDATA and LOCALAPPDATA pointing to .local/native-qa/basic-editing-20260907-profile. The observed fresh Home contained no recent models. Discovery binary SHA256: 327FBDF734716A7F1AF2874183D46A531A8F429BA1A478E83A3E7F2EB1D6248B.
Reproduced problems
- Empty OA Allocation offered a global creation catalog including scenario and state-machine types; canvas tools had no entity creation action.
- Creating an Entity immediately committed
New entityand changed zoom from 100% to 150%, rather than requesting a name and respecting the clicked point. - Ordinary OA-to-SA transition presented an unmade System/System actor choice as an unresolved conflict. Its result view was selected by target-layer UUID order, which can choose an incompatible state diagram.
- Reviewing a newly created, unchanged counterpart opened seven tabs, duplicate row selectors and unreviewed fields without explaining the task.
Work underway and acceptance
Creation work adds named, contextual canvas creation and a relevant existing-element picker, preserving camera, clicked world position, raw drafts and one-step history. Transition work adds a compatible result-view picker, safe automatic destination selection, explicit boundary choice and preservation of existing placements/routes. Review presentation work explains its purpose and reduces default navigation noise without changing semantic operations.
Root owns native checks and review presentation. state_contract owns creation and narrow app integration; behavior_review owns transition implementation and tests; state_representation owns an independent deterministic fixture/oracle and recovery review. Shared Cargo work is serialized.
Required acceptance: named Entity/Actor/Activity creation; cancellation; contextual existing placement; connections and explicit allocation; zoom/pan and move; visible layer-transition destination and boundary choice; complete Save/Undo/Redo/reopen source equality; raw-draft guards; and usable minimum-window layout. Implementation and historical passing test counts are not native acceptance of these changes.
Integration findings
Initial creation-filter tests passed 14/14 and new transition tests passed 6/6. The existing transition-context group found one regression (4/5 passed): the new free-space rule also moved new scenario placements in an explicitly chosen behavior destination. The rule was narrowed to ordinary roots; the existing complete-model assertion was kept unchanged.
Independent review checked recovery binding, stale gestures and destination compatibility. Start cannot replace a retained named draft; start/submit/edit/cancel invalidate earlier placement gestures. A new application-level regression checks that an explicitly selected Overview wins over another Allocation view already containing the counterpart.
The Add-existing results list now adapts to window height. Its real minimum-window layout remains a native gate; an experimental spacer-based layout test was removed because it did not measure the actual dialog. The initial integration compile exposed a missing renderer bound in that removed helper; no test pass was claimed from the failed compilation. The repeated integration run uses the simplified production layout.
The independent fixture and complete source oracle compiled with warnings denied and passed its self-check and exact baseline. It includes six seed elements, four views and two source files. Capabilities is a valid but unchosen destination for a SystemActor; the StateMachine is the incompatible decoy. The checker does not copy observed names, aliases, geometry or source text into its prediction.
Review presentation now explains counterpart updating, displays the copy direction and uses one review-area selector. All seven areas and existing decisions remain reachable. Required additional changes retain the combined-plan approval gate. The guide is being aligned with the named creation, existing placement and result-view controls.
Linux work is deferred during this correction. No VM is running; the policy-rejected direct boot action must not be retried or bypassed. The full release goal remains active and incomplete.
Native v1 and second Escape stop
The integration gates passed: full desktop 584/584, no failures or ignored cases (209.82 seconds test execution); Windows workspace binaries; formatting; and strict workspace/all-target Clippy. Logs/status: .local/basic-editing-gates-status.json. The guide's creation and transition instructions were updated during test execution; the subsequent binary build and Clippy include those label-only edits.
Isolated executable .local/native-qa/bin-basic-editing-20260907-v1/arcadia-studio.exe has SHA256 D8CFAA0E714EEAD552BF0A0138B7255E6E9529D91657A603AA8D94C00320384D. Process 9600 uses fresh APPDATA and LOCALAPPDATA under basic-editing-acceptance-v1-profile, clean system PATH and the copied fixture basic-editing-acceptance-v1-work. Fresh Home showed no recent models.
At 1444×932, the fixture opened to its OA Allocation view at 100%. Entity, Actor, Activity and Add existing were directly available on the canvas toolbar; the old global creation catalog was absent from Architecture. Entity opened a focused name dialog. Typing Rescue team and pressing Enter left the accepted object count at six until the canvas click; committing created the seventh object with its final name and retained 100% zoom.
Native defect: the ordinary creation toolbar is one row, while the pending toolbar is two. The canvas top moved from approximately y391 to y414 while placing, then back to y391 on commit. Clicking (401,550) produced a node whose top-left was approximately (401,528): the world conversion was correct but the widget layout shifted the visible point. The toolbar needs invariant geometry before placement can be accepted.
The user physically pressed Escape at the next attempted Ctrl+Z. Computer Use rejected that action as stopped; Undo was not observed or claimed. Root stopped native control and interrupted the creation agent. Process 9600 remained live at the next read-only check, with an unsaved QA Entity (9bcf91e3-22d8-489d-8459-561ab726ab6f). No native creation/history/source equality, transition, minimum-height or current review pass is claimed. The goal continuation resumes code work only; native control remains paused until renewed user authorization.
